It’s As Good A Theory As Any Other.

Perhaps it’s all just a simulation, and why not, it’s as good a theory as any other. It is the theory that I have been leaning towards more and more recently, of course, if it is a simulation that would make me an artificial intelligence algorithm trying frivolously to simulate freewill… but, I really am not that intelligent, so I suppose that makes me… just… artificial?

And why not? It’s as good a theory as any other.

Maybe I am an afterthought of universe manifest or a fleeting moment of sentience. Perhaps I am an eternal moment stuck in time, or a finite memory lost to time… time is elusive in its intangibility after all… I mean, when my mother passed away, at that moment, I was five years old again frozen in a transient flash that lingered infinitely in mere seconds… when I lost my best friend, I was frozen in that moment again, except now I was sixteen.

Two eternal moments stuck in my time insignificant in their impact to the grand design of… a simulation and simulated time… or maybe it’s all blasphemy and I will find myself in hell. In that case though I do have a lot of questions that need clarity after which I will accept my fate in rivers of flame, the sheer physics of it all makes it at the very least worth seeing…

Isn’t it interesting that the major religions that originated in hot arid continents promise a hell of intense heat, flame and fire? I wonder if an Eskimo’s hell is permafrost…

And why not? It’s as good a theory as any other.

It could be that all this is real where there is nothing more than a surreal erratically cyclical dance of nature, and nothing more than an insignificant statistic in an infinite realm of possibilities with no rhyme or reason… maybe its all just to infinity and beyond… no, wait… that was Toy Story…

… and why not? It’s as good a theory as any other.

Maybe it is a simulation even if it isn’t, just a series of individually simulated distractions of entertainment, politics, emotions, news, gossip… a never-ending list of simulated distractions contrived from our collective imagination of what defines a society and culture creating our own rules and our own punishments to distract us from… whatever this is…

Maybe it’s just a matter of time before a fade to black wasted time… and why not? It’s as good a theory as any other…
