I Stand With Genocide

I stand with genocide… and why not?

We’ve been silently watching genocide after genocide,

Televised in glorious 4K High Definition while my popcorn warms,

Ready for another episode of my favorite show.

I stand with injustice, war, famine, and disease.

They keep my stock portfolio healthy.

Every corpse adds a percentage.

I stand with the evil men do.

I stand with the killing of innocents,

Shelled and buried alive beneath rubble.

I stand with the slaughter of children… Because what place does innocence have in our world?

I stand with racism

I judge by race, color, creed, caste, and sect

Anything to remind me that I am not you.

It fuels my superiority that masks the inferiority I quietly carry

And it does make for a great joke or two at parties.

I stand with hate and malice.

There is no cure for the rot in my soul.

I stand with patriotism and religion… for nothing feels more righteous than killing under flag and god.

I stand with social media.

It keeps me social… in the dark,

Alone, sleepless, anxious… but connected.

I have hundreds of online friends far more valuable than the two I ignore offline.

I stand with big pharma.

Why cure me when I can be medicated forever?

My illness gives others purpose, my pain fuels their sympathy and makes them feel better about their own lives.

I am selfless like that.

I stand with vapid, uninspired conversations.

Ignorance is bliss after all

Numbness is peace… silence is survival.

I stand with the education system

Sculpting conformity… quelling curiosity.

I’ve learned how to memorize answers but never to ask questions.

I was taught to pass tests but never on how to live.

And now look at me… a perfect product of conformity.

I stand with corporations

I am a beautifully conformed cog greased monthly and polished yearly.

Until I’m replaced with a newer cog… same wheel… same fate.

I stand with governments

They know what’s best for me… sending me to wars so their children can inherit oil and stock options.

Why should I not perish for their legacy to be immortal?

What better purpose is there in a life lived once?

I stand with the justice system

Where the laws are written by the rich and enforced on the poor.

Where guilt and freedom are negotiable and for sale.

I stand with tradition

Because why should I ask why… it’s always been done this way.

How else can I keep the memories of ancestors alive than keeping myself a dead relic.

I stand with everything that is wrong with the world

Because there is nothing right with me.
