Lifeless in Daydreams
I often catch myself daydreaming and it never ceases to amaze me how easy it is for one to just drift away with a fixated gaze on nothing in particular. I just drift away and most of the time it’s a completely empty train of thoughtlessness, like its white noise or just a blank white paper (or black, or yellow, or green, or any other colored paper… see? I’m no racist)
If I only prefer to write on white paper does that make me racist? I mean I don’t, I rarely notice the color of the paper I write on, although I’m pretty sure it’s almost always Caucasian or Asian paper. I suppose people rarely use black paper due to the lack of marketing on white ink… which means there is a serious discrimination against white ink.
So more often than not I find myself day dreaming about nothing.
Or as my sight drifts outside liberating itself from the office through the window, I find myself fixated on a billboard that says “Iranian Carpets”… that made me think of Iran. Which in turn made me think of Xerxes and the might of the Persian Empire, its history and rich tradition… how civilizations come to rise and fall over night and fade away and archived into the annals of history, it seems so surreal that it can sometimes feel unreal.
It feels too surreal that there is a genealogy that just keeps infinitely running upwards, who are my ancestors and where they came from, and it just keeps going and going till it can be traced to the first human ever? It must though, I mean if it didn’t then that would raise a very important question… where the hell did I (all of us for that matter) come from? Plus it kind of makes the entire human race and population a bit too incestuous.
By the way, I am not Persian in case you were wondering, I just happened to see a billboard that’s all.
… and before we move on, I am not saying I am not a Persian because there is something wrong about it, or I am ashamed, it’s a very respectable culture and history. I’m just saying I’m not one that’s all… Jesus, get off my back…
… Oh and also, I’m not Christian I just like to mention my man JC… sometimes I feel have to explain myself too much to the two readers accidently reading this.
I was never against the concept of revolution, and when I expressed my slight concern towards the revolution of January 25th in Egypt, people instantly got in my face and claimed that I was pro regime. It was then that I realized sometimes it’s best to just keep your opinion to yourself. Now looking at the current state of the country, I can perhaps shed some light on my point of view while most of you are distracted by the chaos.
I was merely pointing out that the time of the peoples revolution is over, we are not in that phase of history anymore. You look at the previous revolutions and we all had a common regime to hate on. When Egypt went on the hunt for its independence it took it from the British, and changed the monarchy to a republic (great move by the way, the improvements that came after that were just breath taking)
These days we have become our own enemies. Within the same house hold you can find them sparring about different sects and political parties; Sunni versus Shiite, Catholic versus Protestant, liberal versus conservative, and so on and so forth.
Now that you have successfully toppled a regime, let’s see how smoothly transition will be when you have so many political and religious groups and agendas lined up to claim the imaginary throne that wields real power… that’s all I wanted to say (and not being a person to say I told you so, I will just let my silence indicate that thought)
…
Anyway I’m not a political person and I have no interest in politics, and when I find myself day dreaming about politics I immediately slap some sense into myself because I have better things to do with my time… like staring blankly into the sky…
Oh look… clouds…
(You think I’m Egyptian now don’t you?)
